Girls, Inc. supports the lives of girls between the ages of 6 and 18 in the United States and Canada. Its offerings include a wide range of educational training, mentoring, health, and fitness programs. In January 2014, the organization announced a partnership with “Million Women Mentors” (MWM), which fosters mentoring relationships with one million professionals in the fields of technology, science, and engineering. This effort will promote increased confidence and interest for young women and girls in these areas. Judy Vredenburgh, the CEO of Girls, Inc., expressed enthusiasm regarding the opportunity to engage with professionals spanning many sectors, including government, nonprofit, academic, and corporate. She underscored the need for girls to cultivate passion and skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in order to create more opportunities for the future. STEM jobs have experienced a threefold increase in growth over the last 10 years.
